Your cards-In blackjack you are dealt two cards face up. Add these together to give your total, and this number corresponds to the number running vertically down the side of the tables. Jack/Queen/King all count as 10. If you are dealt a Queen and a 4 this means you have 14
Dealers Card- The dealer will be dealt two cards, one of which will be face up. This is the dealers card which corresponds to the numbers runing horizontally across the top of the table. Again 10 means any of 10/J/Q/K
Aces- In Blackjack an Ace can count as either 1 or 11. If you are dealt an Ace and a 6, this could be either 6 or 16 and is referred to as 'soft 16'. The same applies for the dealer.
Pairs- If you have two of the same cards (eg. 8,8) then you are allowed to split or 'pair' your cards. This involves putting down the same stake again but effectively playing two hands. Continue to play each individual hand exactly as normal.
Examples- applicable to all software types
1)Dealer- 6 You- 4+3
Looking at the tables, you'd have 7. You'd hit (always hit 5-8 assuming there is no ace or pair). Let's say you got a king. You would then have 4+3+10. 17 vs 6 on the tables says STAND.
2)Dealer- K You- 8+8
You have a pair of 8's. Looking at the table 8,8 vs 10 is hit. You get a 3. 8+8+3=19. You'd stick
3)Dealer- 7 You- 9+2
11 vs 7 on the table says DOUBLE. You double your stake and get one more card
4)Dealer- 2 You- A+6
A+6 can be 7 or 17. Looking at the table it says to hit. You get a 9. As 11+9+6 is more than 21, the ace now has to a 1. 1+6+9=16. 16 vs 2 on the table says STAND.
